Nicola McCarthy
Nicola’s dance journey began as a teenager in Japan, competing in a crew and building what would become a career spanning 15+ years. With deep roots in house and street jazz, she now specializes in house, hip hop choreography, and Latin styles, blending musicality with raw, expressive movement.
Nicola has represented her craft on stages around the world, with highlights including Just Jam (UK), Breakin’ Convention in Glasgow, and B Supreme and Just Debut (UK). One of her most meaningful experiences was working with Afro Reggae in Brazil, teaching in favelas and learning how communities transform discarded materials into musical instruments—keeping young people inspired through rhythm and dance instead of falling into the cycle of drugs. She’s also performed across South Africa, Germany, and the UK as part of the Together Apart project.
In her classes at Passion, expect good vibes, fun, and sweat! Nicola’s musical taste is eclectic and rich—ranging from '70s–'90s jams to Afro, Latin, and underground garage. She lives and breathes music, and it shows in every groove.
Nicola creates a class atmosphere that’s sweaty, happy, and full of fun, and she’s passionate about providing a free, joyful space where everyone can feel welcome.
Her motto is simple and powerful:“Dance is for everyone. Let’s enjoy & have fun.”
Fun fact: Rice is life.
