Chino
Chino’s connection to dance runs deep—rooted in both his Latin American upbringing and lifelong love of Hip Hop. Raised in a house filled with salsa, bachata, and cumbia, his first dance teachers were the women who raised him. From the moment he could stand, he was moving to music. But it was watching early 2000s music videos—where Bboys, Krumpers, and dancers stole the spotlight—that truly lit the spark.
He began experimenting with Krumping and Cwalking in 2008–09 before discovering Breaking in 2010. By 2011, he was training seriously, and has now been breaking for over 14 years. Along the way, he joined Kings Only (KO Crew)—a crew he once looked up to and is now proudly part of. The mentorship he received from his KO brothers shaped not only his skills, but his identity within the Hip Hop community.
Chino has battled across Australia and parts of Asia—including Vietnam, Bali, and Thailand—as well as back home in Chile. A major milestone came in 2023 when he placed 2nd in a Toprock battle in Bali, followed by a tour through Vietnam’s dance scene. He describes that year as “pinnacle”—a time of fearlessness, growth, and movement.
In class at Passion, Chino doesn’t teach routines or choreography. Instead, he guides students through the original formula of Breaking: Toprock, Drops, Footwork, and Freezes. With an emphasis on groove, personal style, and freedom of expression, his sessions are high energy, light-hearted, and open to all. As he puts it: “It’s about the grooves, not the moves.”
Expect music of all kinds, inspiration drawn from his crew, and a full-circle teaching moment—his biggest inspiration, Bboy Tofu, once taught at Passion long before him. Now it’s Chino’s turn to give back.
His mantra: “Get out of your mind and into your body.”Fun fact: Chino has dabbled in every element of Hip Hop—Breaking, Graffiti, DJing, and MCing.
